Gulfster's on Vacation! 11/3 - 11/10 - We will be updating from Costa Rica. Courtesy of David McNeill @ DevadProductions.com. And C21Jaco Definitely check back through the week for some CR sickness! ***Coverage for the gulf will be very limited. We'll be back on the gulf by Sunday 11/13. You can also check Aurasurf.com for updated coverage on surfing in WFL.

3:20pm - Jaco, Costa Rica - We surfed a semi mellow spot in Hermosa this morning around head high where we were and much bigger on the main peaks. Beautiful glassy conditions, lots of barrels. And incredible talent in the water. We surfed with Jim Hogan and David McNeill. But the wind was on it by noon. Last night we surfed a super glassy spot in Jaco. The swell here in CR is expected to peak the next couple of days. We are getting plenty of pics and video footage to put on the web when we get back. As for the gulf - a weakish front is expected to bring a little swell around thigh high on Wednesday. We'll be back covering the gulf by Sunday. Meanwhile check back through the week for some more pics from Costa Rica. Gulf Temp 77

ESA WFL NEWS UPDATED 10/9/07

Another year ends at Hattaras for the Easterns (Eastern Championships). We unfortunatly had not so great results, as did most of Florida; It was northern eastcoast and central eastcoast year to shine. The ESA is the largest surfing orgaization in the world, with thousands of members, and the fact that our surfers made it thru regionals to Easterns said a lot for our coast. Congrats guys and gals.

We all had a great time. The waves were shoulder to head high the first couple days. Then a couple of small days at thigh to waist. Then popped back up to shoulder to overhead glassy for 2 days. Ending with a couple well overhead choppy days (solid 8ft+).

We have great news from WFL! The first ever ESA contest hosted by another district. ESA/CFL (Brevard) will be host to a contest for our district WFL at Cocoa Pier on December 1st and 2nd. All points will stay at our local district; for instance, if you are in Jr Mens Division from WFL, and you get second place beat by a CFL member, you will still get first place points. There will be no beach sign ups for this event; you have to pre-register (on-line sign ups will be in the next few weeks). Everyone in HQ will be keeping there eye on this event.

Venice North Jetty is now open for ESA/WFL contest. Hopefully we will get a tropical nugget, to have our first contest in over 10 years here. If you have any pull in your local beach government on holding a contest, please contact me.

We have a ESA/WFL and Surfaid concert at the Surfshack on October 20th; bands to be anounced. All proceeds are split between our ESA district and Surfaid International (Mentaiwas Earthquake Victims). Keep your eyes open to Gulfster for more information in the next week.

We have a new division; Standup paddle board division; we are the first in the ESA to have this, and is on trial for the first year.
There is no Regionals or Easterns for this division, but if it works out well in our district, it could be a true division ESA wide. Be a pioneer
and learn this up and coming Hawaiian sport; you can even do it when it's flat!

Our district is tops in membership growth; We won the #1 place trophy in membership growth for 2nd year straight at a eye popping 52% increase. We now have over 200 members . NY got 2nd with 18%, and some district in the Carolinas got 16%.

We need your help!!! If you can donate your time to be a judge or tabulator, you can surf for free. We will also pay you $50.00 on top.
WFL has outgrown single beach, single day contest; we need to go to double beach; we litterally ran out of sunlight the last couple of
contest, and had our trophy ceremony under the headlights of my truck.

Double beach would allow us to be done by 3 or 4pm. By going to double beach, we need to double the judges and tabulators, so we really need your help. I will be adding three more co-directors to help us; if you would like to contribute to our WFL ESA district, please contact Robyn Agerskov at agerskor@allkids.org.

If you work or own a local business, you may be able to help us by sponsorship; we need a PA with speakers, another tent, more chairs,
enclosed trailer, clipboards, caculators, and more. As a sponsor your banner will be at every contest, on our website, and on our trailer.
ESA is a non-profit Organization; Need a tax write-off?

As Director of ESA/WFL, I am a volunteer, giving back to surfing, that has givin me so much. It has been one of the most rewarding things I have ever done.

Thanks to everyone that supports us.
