Gold Coast - Snapper Rocks with Surfers Paradise and Dbah
These are pictures of D-bah and Snapper Rocks with Surfers Paradise in the background. The Gold Coast, very cool to visit but super crowded. If you plan on surfing Snapper think again, even when its flat. Parko's nephews cousin is holding it down. The day I was there it was small, surfed 10 minutes and realized D-bah beach break was much better. The next few days the surf would come up. Check some of the clips online Parko owns it those days. I left before that happened. Great area if you wanna surf and your girl wants to shop. D-bar café or Rainbow Bay Surf club for some grub after a surf, good food and you might walk right past Occy and not even realize it till its too late. I did... Also great area for whale watching they are super close to the shore this time of year. They are following an albino one so you hear a lot about the whales.
These photos are from Tea Tree the day after it was big. Still fun surf and enough power to fight off Larry Logger and the SUP crew. This spot is a point break take off is behind the rocks when its good. If your scared of rocks stay on the inside and catch the shoulder. The fun part is spraying all the shoulder hoppers all the way down the line. Slow moving wave except when its big, with about a 100 yard line. That's if you don't get dropped in on…
Plenty of koala at Tea Tree Bay. This one hung out all day. Keep your eyes out for koala poo on the trail then look up carefully incase the little guy is having some stomach issues.
Surfing around Noosa you get the windy side. This day was Sunshine Beach, but if you hiked up a headland, looked over the hill Alexandra Bay offered up the glass but not as powerful though. If you talk to the locals they will say A Bay is the most consistent for surf in the winter. I was just thankful I got those waves. This time of year its usually flat around there. Summer is a better season due to the cyclones. Thankful I got to surf. Thanks Mal and Marilyn Mc.Kenzie
