HI My name is Debbie Walker, (Debbie Breen before
marriage). I Began surfing in St Pete Beach in 1986. In 1986 their
was only three girls that surfed in the west coast Myself, Lisa Jurich
and Cindy Fisher. We would paddle out every time we even had a ripple.
The local boys did not want us to learn to surf they named us THE
SEA HAGS . We turned the name into a cool thing. Still to this day
guys will paddle over to me and ask if I am one of the SEA HAGS. I
began entering surf contests both east coast and west. In 1990 I was
the women's NSSA champion and went on to surf in Nationals at Oceanside
Ca. I took a fin through my foot and was unable to surf for about
a year. I just surfed for fun for alot of years. In 2001 My husband
Jimmy Walker and I moved to Cocoa Beach. I now surf everyday! My husband
is my coach. I still compete in all surf contests I am ranked second
in women's longboard in the southeast of the ESA. I am sponsored by
Marchiquita swimwear, Turbo Tunnel Fins, Surfboards by the Greek.
I am begriming to compete in the women's longboard pro contests. This
story is to all the girls that are starting. I am now 35 and surf
better and harder then when I was young. NEVER give up and never let
an injury stop you
