It took a while for the fire dept. to showup. The dunes were burning for at least half an hour before they were able to arrive and put it out. Hundreds of people were near the fire on the beach but no one I talked to knew (or would admit that they knew) what had started it.

There was a decent amount of lightning in the area but I figure it was more likely someone not being careful with their fireworks.
